Ziua Reformei

The worst of all times is the best of all times for missions.

„The worst of all times is the best of all times for missions.

1. During an economic downturn we are more dependent on God. That is the most fertile soil for creating missionaries.
2. During an economic downturn unreached people around the world do not expect you to come, but to look out for yourself. So they may more likely see your risk as love rather than exploitation.
3. During an economic downturn those who need Christ around the world may be less secure in earthly things and more ready to hear about eternal life.
4. During an economic downturn people at home may be wakened to the brevity of life and the fragility of material things, and so may become more generous not less. And when they give under these circumstances, it will make Christ look all the more like the all-satisfying Treasure that he is.” John Piper

Scurte reflectii

„World leaders will meet to „strengthen and modernize our nations’ financial systems” to avoid another crisis like the one that has thrown the international economy into turmoil, U.S. President George W. Bush said Saturday”
…”As we make the regulatory institutional changes necessary to avoid a repeat of this crisis, it is essential that we preserve the foundations of democratic capitalism — commitment to free markets, free enterprise and free trade,” Bush said.”

…Sarkozy said the G8 meeting should produce „a new capitalism.” On Saturday, he said the problem is international and therefore needs an international solution.

Barosso said „we need a new global financial order.”

…”There is no freedom [in capitalism] without a minimum of regulation and supervision,” the French president said before leaving the three-day Francophonie meeting early for his trip to the U.S.

Harper said a „new infrastructure” is needed in the world of globalization.

„It’s not to say capitalism is flawed — it’s to say that governments have a responsibility to create a better infrastructure for the establishment of markets internationally,” he said.

Rugaciune pentru vremuri grele

You Have Our Attention, Lord – o varianta (Nota mea)
A prayer by Max Lucado – October 2008

Our friends lost their house
The co-worker lost her job
The couple next door lost their retirement
It seems that everyone is losing their footing

This scares us. This bailout with billions.
These rumblings of depression.
These headlines: ominous, thunderous –
“Going Broke!” “Going Down!” “Going Under!” “What’s Next?”

What is next?

We’re listening. And we’re admitting: You were right.

You told us this would happen.
You shot straight about loving stuff and worshipping money.
Greed will break your heart, You warned.
Money will love you and leave you.
Don’t put your hope in riches that are so uncertain.

You were right. Money is a fickle lover and we just got dumped.

We were wrong to spend what we didn’t have.
Wrong to neglect prayer and ignore the poor.
Wrong to think we ever earned a dime. We didn’t. You gave it. And now, tell us Father, are You taking it?

We’re listening. And we’re praying.
Could you make something good out of this mess?

Of course You can. You always have.
You led slaves out of slavery,
Built temples out of ruins,
Turned stormy waves into a glassy pond and water into sweet wine.
This disorder awaits your order. So do we.

Through Christ,
Amen

God will always give what is right to His people who cry to Him night and day, and He will not be slow to answer them. (Luke 18:7 NCV)
